Learn how to draw famous Scottish landmarks in our Sketching Scotland video tutorial series.
In this episode, we teach you how to draw Caerlaverock Castle.
Caerlaverock Castle is a stunning example of medieval architecture. Built in the 13th century, it survived several sieges but still maintains many of its original features, including beautiful red sandstone, twin-towered gatehouse and imposing battlements.
From a distance, it looks like an ordinary castle; get closer to admire its most unusual feature that gives the castle its unique character – its triangular shape. The moss-covered moat also makes an amazing impression.
Located within a nature reserve not far from Dumfries in the south west of Scotland, a visit to Caerlaverock makes for a fantastic day out with family and friends.
