Bignasco (altitude 443 metres) is situated where the Maggia and Bavona Rivers converge. The village has well-preserved late medieval buildings, such as the stone bridge, the 15th century village church and the chapels San Rocco (1597) and Santa Maria del Ponte (1512, with interior frescos). Other buildings worth seeing include two old grain stores raised on piles.
In 1965, a scheduled post bus route to Bignasco replaced the railway connection. Bignasco is a hub where passengers change to travel into the Val Bavona (San Carlo, cableway to Robièi, Cristallina hiking trail) and Val Lavizzara (Fusio)
Cascata di Bignasco is a 70 meter high waterfall in Bignasco, Valley Maggia in Region Ticino Switzerland
