The original Blue Peter theme tune needs no introduction!
The familiar drum roll signalled the exciting beginning of compulsory twice-weekly viewing for all of us who were at primary school at the time.
First used in 1958 when the programme began on BBC TV and still in use until 1979 when Mike Oldfield's version replaced it, this is the classic theme tune by Sidney Torch and The New Century Orchestra.
The Blue Peter presenters featured here are Christopher Trace, Valerie Singleton, John Noakes and Peter Purves, from back in the days when Blue Peter was based in its proper home of Television Centre in Wood Lane, West London (just saying).
The dogs shown in the photograph are I think Patch and Petra (or is that Shep?) and the cat was called Jason. The puppets shown include Bleep and Booster.
Here's one I made earlier using sticky back plastic and rubber solution glue. Don't try this at home - get down Shep!
