This is my one month old brand new Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7" Android tablet that crapped out and turned off while watching a show on the TWC (Time Warner Cable) on demand TV app.
Now it won't turn on or completely turn off. It either gets stuck / frozen / hangs on this black boot screen with the words "Samsung Galaxy Tab S2" and "Powered by Android" in white letters.
If I do a soft reset (hold power and volume down), it comes back to the same screen.
If I do a soft reset while it is plugged in to the OEM wall charger, it will show the grey out battery icon with a white lightning bolt but no charging status (green with percentage such as 60%).
A hard reset (power, volume up and home button) has no effect.
The Samsung online chat representative had me do all the usual steps.
The phone tech support rep had me do all the same steps. It will not enter recovery mode, turn off or boot up.
They sent me to the Samsung Experience people at a nearby Best Buy. They tried a "Home recovery" and a "Factory Binary Recovery" with no results.
Samsung finally agreed to let me mail it back to them. They do not pay for shipping. So I paid $16 for a USPS priority box with $400 in insurance.
I had hoped that the Samsung employees at Best Buy would have just exchanged it for a new tablet, but I bought this tablet from a private seller on eBay. It was new and unopened.
