In 1982 I was a Captain in the Parachute Regiment serving with the Third Battalion (3 PARA). This is my recollection of events from being recalled to getting home. I sailed south with the Task Force on the Canberra, walked across East Falkland and almost made it to Stanley.
I say "almost" because I was wounded in the battle for Mount Longdon, described as "some of the bloodiest close-hand fighting, terrible injuries and most shocking loss of life experienced by British troops since the Korean War"
I am also telling my tale to highlight the plight of veterans, then and now. I strongly believe we treat our veterans dreadfully in this country and hope this helps to raise awareness, and maybe some funds, to help right that wrong.

Whilst this is my recollection of events, since recording the video, I have been corrected by the man who knows all there is to know about the battle, namely Jimmy O'Connell, who is mentioned in the video. He tells me that B Company did not cross the river where indicated on one of the photos but further west at Furze Bush Stream.
