Normal vaginal delivery or child birth is not an easy thing to happen, it’s a natural procedure, but the mother strains her entire abdomen and uterine muscles to push out the fetus. So, this is a process where lot of energy and muscles are acting, hence post delivery there can be aches and pains.
1. Uterus only takes time to contract which has grown up to 40 weeks size has to go down to a zero week size. So, it has to go back to its normal size, that takes almost 6 weeks. There the uterus usually contracts, relaxes, contracts, relaxes, so this can itself can cause pain for some time of the day. So, Uterine contractions and relaxations can be the cause of pain.
2. Lots of bowel movements because of the abdominal muscle cramps occurred due to the stress the mother has taken in pushing. This may take time to relax, and hence these can be the cause of pain post delivery.
3. Lot of bloating and gas, because the food intake may not have been proper.
4. Post-delivery bleeding can continue for 1 month, + or - 10 days. So, there are times a small clot can come out, heaving bleeding. 10 minutes of severe pain contractions, and they will be settled down soon.
5. Motion Constipation – can cause pain around the bowel region. Can be treated with fruits and laxatives.
6. Myth – not giving enough water to post delivery woman – this again causes lot of urine infections, can cause lower abdomen pain.
