With the recent overturning of Roe v. Wade and increased awareness of reproductive rights, more men are seeking vasectomies, a medical sterilization procedure for men who are sure they don't want a future pregnancy. In this recent Health Watch segment, Mitchell Sokoloff, MD, Chair, Department of Urology, shares that in recent weeks he has seen a large increase in men wishing to get vasectomies. Dr. Sokoloff notes that vasectomy is a quick, 10-minute, simple, “incision-less” procedure performed in the clinic that is 99% effective at preventing pregnancy and involves minimal recovery time. The urology clinic performs more than 10 vasectomies a day, and conveniently schedules appointments around busy lives.
