After a few weeks off, following my Welsh 3000s success, I fancied something a little easier than the crags, Boulder fields and Scree slopes of North Wales. Exmoor National Park was our destination and a first visit for Mountain Adventures. Parking in the picturesque village of Allerford, we set of for Horner Wood, climbing steeply before opening out onto moorland. From here we hit the summit of Dunkery Beacon before heading back to the coast via Wootton Courtenay and Selworthy Beacon. We caught a glimpse of Selworthy Sands but didn't venture onto the beach, with the climb down a rope and the boulders to cross, it was a little to much after 15 miles. A short trip around the coast took us back to the car.
