Traveling in the Lazy Z yacht, my trip began, as the best ones do, on a yacht, bobbing gently in the Atlantic in Rio De Janeiro, the magical and unofficial world's capital of beach and beauty.

After my flight, I find myself anchored just off the coast of Rio de Janeiro during a recent, and much needed nautical sojourn to my beloved, Brazil. I awoke early, not due to jetlag, but to my near giddy excitement brought on by my once again being back in this wonderful, beguiling, tropical behemoth that I so love.

On that first morning, the sun, first a sliver, and now a roiling, fiery orb fiercely gliding upward toward the noonday heavens, bathed the teak deck of my commandeered vessel (it pays to keep in touch with generous friends, I assure you; especially those who have taken full advantage of Brazil's status as economic powerhouse in the making; a certified member of the BRIC club) in a kind of buttery-orange light that I have yet to experience in any other part of the world-save for the Kalahari in Mid-May, just before the Matoppie flowers erupt in full bloom.
