Apple urged by French Agency to withdraw iPhone 12 from shelves over radiation levels
Recently, the French government's watchdog agency ordered tech giant Apple to withdraw its latest flagship model, iPhone 12, from the French market.
The agency has raised concerns that the device emits high levels of electromagnetic radiation unsafe for public exposure.
The National Frequency Agency oversees radio-electric frequencies and has called on Apple to fix the malfunction for iPhones already in use immediately.
In a statement released Tuesday, the agency said Apple must "implement all available means to fix this malfunction rapidly."
It also warned that corrective updates to the iPhone 12 will be monitored, and if they don't work, Apple will have to recall the phones that have already been sold.
This move by the French regulator has sparked a debate about the safety of smartphones and their effects on human health.
While some studies have found no significant risk of harm, others have suggested that long-term exposure may cause adverse health effects, such as cancer and other illnesses.
However, Apple has disputed the findings and stated that the iPhone 12 complies with all radiation regulations.
The French regulator's decision to withdraw the iPhone 12 from the market may have significant implications for Apple, as France is one of the largest markets for the company in Europe.
It remains to be seen how the situation will develop and how Apple will respond to the regulator's order.
