In an interview with Progressive Independent Talk Radio TV reporter Frans Sello waga Machate, the South African Minister of Defence and Military Veterans Thandi Modise encourages South African citizens to take pride in the upcoming Africa Aerospace & Defence (AAD) Show to be hosted between 18 - 22 September at the Waterkloof Air Force Base in Pretoria.
Minister Modise revealed that the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) together with the South African defence and aerospace industry will take advantage of the 12th biennial AAD trade exhibition and airshow to showcase the country's capabilities and technological advancement to Africa and the world.
The Defence Minister was speaking earlier this week on Monday on the sidelines on of the launch of 100 Days countdown to the biggest defence and aerospace exhibition hosted by South Africa. AAD is the only international defence exhibition and conference in the African region demonstrating the latest technology across land, sea and air sectors of defence. This exhibition is a unique platform to showcase defence and aerospace novel solutions and new products and also provide an opportunity for all stakeholders, including business, academia and reseachers to explore and conclude new partnerships and collaborative efforts towards achieving global peace.
The exhibition features a world-class air demonstration, mobility track demonstrations, parachute drops, aerobatic displays and other static displays from key aviation and defence industry players in the world demonstrating their latest and greatest aircraft.
According to the AAD Exhibition Director Ms Nakedi Phasha, the 2024 exhibition (AAD) is designed to be a dynamic platform for strengthening existing relationships and forging new partnerships within the defence and related industries.
It is confirmed that this year's AAD will include participants from key global defence and aviation players, including the United States of America, Belgium, Brazil, China and esteemed companies such as SAAB, Airbus, Turkish Aerospace and L3Harris Technologies amongst the exhibitors.
It is estimated that at least 100 000 visitors will participate in this exhibition on both trade exhibition and open public days of the AAD.
