Highlighting how the pieces move, the special rules of the game, the values of the pieces, how to develop your pieces, and basic tactical tricks you can use in your very own game. Take the time to understand everything in this video and you’re well on your way of becoming a solid chess player!
I didn’t want to get into notation as it doesn’t change what happens in the game, but basically in chess “ranks” are the horizontal lines of squares while “files” are the vertical lines of squares. These basically form an x/y chart, where files are on the x-axis, labelled a-h, while ranks are on the y-axis, labelled 1-8.
Additional rules:
-game ends in draw after 50 moves without a capture or pawn move
-game ends in draw if the same position (exact placement of pieces) repeats 3 times
