Bob Foster, known as "The Deputy Sheriff," had a remarkable boxing career in the light heavyweight and heavyweight divisions. Born on April 27, 1942, in Borger, Texas, he claimed the world light heavyweight title in 1968 and defended it fourteen times until 1974. Foster's powerful punching made him one of the greatest light heavyweight champions in history. After retiring in 1978, he became a police officer in Albuquerque. Despite personal challenges and facing legends like Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali, Foster's reputation as a top puncher earned him recognition in boxing history. He passed away on November 21, 2015, at the age of 73.
