The "rediscover." by the way, is for us, not history or local knowledge. These are the best detailed still pics from the debut approach on foot. Historical enough to actually be marked on most map resources; fairly clear target area and likely to find by parking at top of CD then flanking the ridge that ends at the mine. Nice 20 minute hike that, while tactics worked, proved unnecessary with enough of a surviving wagon track off the west side of Ottawa Gulch Road to allow driving right to the dang thing. (Risky for basic cars; a steep slope involved, etc. but if got that far on rocky OG already...)
To wit, posting this to add to MMD recons a couple days after Bald Butte, two young ladies in a sedan pinstriped half OG w/oil after punching their oil pan; per report from BB new friends. (Started with an "L." CURSED name retention failures!) They were parked at the top waiting for their "engine to cool down; it's overheating" per their thoughts. L clued 'em in to the likely real danger. They had already called for some help and no sign of vehicle on my passage back down... or huge oil puddles.
