High-Altitude ARNG Aviation Training Site (HAATS), run by full-time Colorado Army National Guard pilots, teaches "graduate level" training to military helicopter pilots flying in mountainous terrain and/or high temperatures. One-day of classroom training is followed by four days of flying in and out of the ragged peaks of Colorado's Rocky Mountains with altitudes ranging from the airport at 6500' to peaks of 14,000'.
