Most FORD (green wire), GM (light blue wire) and DODGE(white with brown stripe wire) trucks have a single wire coming out of the harness close to the tire at the rear. Around 2005 the FORD wire disappeared from the rear and at least on the 2007 F150 is located at the harness under the driver side door. In Texas, you will (might) not pass inspection and might also get a ticket if caught if the 3rd brake light isn't working correctly (no on or blinking). If no wire is available, you can also use a relay with the trailer tow yel and grn wires as input or a buy a 2-to-3 Wire Tail Light Converter Curt 56196. It's cheaper and less wire and wiring.
