Scriabin - Prelude for the Left Hand Op 9 No 1
Performed by Timothy Chiang
Scriabin wrote the op. 9 pieces 'Prelude and Nocturne for the left hand' shortly after he injured his right hand learning Liszt's 'Don Juan' and Balakirev's 'Islamey'. At the time he was informed by doctors that he would never play again, and these circumstances also eventuated to the composition of his first piano sonata, Scriabin's personal cry against God of his fate as a pianist. However, in due course, his right hand recovered.
