In this video, we discuss ways to improve children's language skills. You also want to allow children to wonder about things and question things.
Some examples of this can include putting an object in a box and having children wonder what might be inside or they can question why it rained today. These are things you can write down and further discuss with your students as they are curious and wondering is part of life.
This training session starts with an overview of language; literacy skills in young children and what research says about developing early literacy skills and best practices for teaching young children vocabulary, oral language skills, concepts of print, print knowledge, and more. Practical strategies with hands-on activities that support learning language & literacy skills will be presented throughout the session beginning with infants and toddlers and then moving on to preschool children. The continuum of language development and literacy learning will look at what skills are closely related to later literacy achievement and how teachers can teach those skills. This Course is 5 Credits/0.5CEUs.
