Veterans: Lack of Medical Records
What to do if you don't have service medical records for whatever reason?
Your STR can provide valuable evidence to support your claim for disability benefits. When you receive your records, review them carefully to ensure that they are complete and accurate. If you find any errors or omissions, you should request a correction from the NPRC.
Your STR contains the evidence of the medical conditions that you are claiming as disabilities. Your records may contain diagnoses, treatment notes, and laboratory results that can help support your claim. You should also look for evidence of any incidents or events that may have contributed to your condition, such as combat injuries or exposure to hazardous materials.
But what if you have no medical records...
