This isn't much of a demo, as it is just me jamming away and having a ball with my (stock) Fender American Elite Jazz Bass and my favorite bass amplifier -- the MESA/Boogie WD-800 Hybrid Bass Amplifier. The audio was recorded with MESA WD 800 (post-EQ) direct into Pro Tools. Drums were programmed into ToonTrack Superior Drummer 3, then beefed up...
I recently purchased this 4-string Elite Jazz Bass and fell in love with its tone, feel, playability and the preamp. If you've watched my other videos, you know I also have the 4 String American Elite Precision, but for slap and funk, the American Elite Jazz Bass is it for me... I've had plenty of Jazz basses, but the neck on this one feels extra comfortable and she's nice and lightweight. Blk/Wht/Blk pickguard was the only update on her, and she's about as classy as a Fender Jazz Bass comes.
The MESA/Boogie WD 800 is pictured here on top of the Mesa Ultra Light Subway Bass Cabs -- both the Mesa Subway 210 & the Subway 115. The new MESA/Boogie Subway series stuff is amazing, and worth every penny. Not only have they saved my back hauling them around and playing with them on stage, but they sound great at low volume and home practice as well -- to say I'm a HUGE fan is probably an understatement... Shout out to Andy Field at Mesa for taking care of us players, listening to us and moreover, giving us what we love to play!
As you can see the Mesa Subway D-800+ bass amplifier is also sitting atop the cabs, albeit just for show on this video (and I love that amp more than the Mesa Subway WD-800, especially for Funk and Slap Bass). The D-800+ is definitely a keeper for me and sounds fantastic out any bass cab and speaker configuration I've run it through... that said, I keep the WD 800 on-hand for playing in a hard rock band, she definitely shines with plenty of grit and grime on top of that fat bottom.
