The Whale Bay carries historical meaning to both N-America and the Allies of Europe from the later years of the second World War. In the dept of it´s shelter convoy´s were gathered of ships carrying ammunition and war material for the fighting forces in Europe and there was an active fuel depot there. Remains from these time can still be seen here and there about the bay from these times.
