Cahill’s Crossing is a dangerous causeway that joins The Kakadu National Park with Arnhem Land on the East Alligator River. Salt water crocodiles many of which are 4+ meters in length congregate in the area lining up as they catch barramundi and other fish passing over the causeway during high tide. Fishing from the banks of Cahill’s Crossing is permitted.
However, there have been several deaths from crocodile attacks over the years, extreme caution is strongly advised. Also note that crosssing into Arnem Land is by permit only.
Cahills Crossing is situated 30min drive from Jabiru. Crocodiles are are most active approx 1 hour before high tide.
