...Things Got A Bit Too Hot at Shorty's
Bob Mayer was on the scene for WTVJ News on the morning of July 1, 1972, when Shorty's Barbecue Ranch, already a South Miami-Dade landmark, went up in flames.
Mayer's report recounts all of the important details and includes a brief interview with Captain Thomas Tomberline of the Metro Fire Department.
Although Shorty's was not insured at the time of the fire, the restaurant rose again and is to this day one of South Florida's top stops for barbecue.
