When I mix, I have no revision limit because I believe you should be 100% stoked and beyond excited about the final version of the record or song that we've worked on together. If that's not the case after mix 1, I simply won't stop until it is. I'm confident enough to know that it won't take forever anyways.
That being said, there are some revision requests that actually aren't revision requests. They aren't even about mixing, really.
I had two of these this week, so I wanted to help you better understand the process and why it's not that easy sometimes, unfortunately.
As I say in the video, I don't blame the artists, at all!
As professional mixers/producers, it is our job to set expectations and explain things like that right away. And if something like that still comes up, I understand where the question is coming from and I'm always happy to explain it, just like I'm explaining it to you here.
Lesson learned today:
Even though we communicate that clearly in our very detailed project agreements that we use here at the studio, I have to personally address this in my initial calls with artists to help them better understand the process.
