Filmed literally 'Out of the Back' of the Spirit of the Outback Part 1 (Longreach to Barcaldine, Queensland, Australia) - We take a ride on the twice weekly passenger service between Longreach and Brisbane. The train leaves Longreach at 10am on Mondays and Thursdays, arriving in the state capital at 11.55am the following day. Queensland Rail loco hauled coaches have a window in the corridor connection doors which provides an excellent opportunity to observe the route from the driver’s perspective, albeit in reverse! Unfortunately, these windows do get dirty!! They are not fitted with windscreen wipers and reaching over to clean them before departure is frowned upon!! However, the window at the back of the SotO affords us a unique view of the narrow gauge railway running through this breathtaking landscape - what Banjo Paterson referred to as "the vision splendid of sunlit plains extended" (from the poem 'Clancy of the Overflow' 1889). The train takes a little over two hours to travel between Longreach and Barcaldine. Unfortunately, on this particular day, the train didn't stop at the intermediate town of Ilfracombe. Because we whizzed straight through, and because the town is so small, and because our compartment was five carriages away, I completely failed to get to the rear window in time to film our passing through! Buchstäblich „Out of the Back“ des Spirit of the Outback Teil 1 (Longreach nach Barcaldine, Queensland, Australien) gefilmt – Wir fahren mit dem zweimal wöchentlichen Passagierservice zwischen Longreach und Brisbane. Der Zug verlässt Longreach montags und donnerstags um 10:00 Uhr und kommt am Folgetag um 11:55 Uhr in der Landeshauptstadt an. Von Lokomotiven gezogene Waggons von Queensland Rail haben ein Fenster in den Korridor-Verbindungstüren, das eine hervorragende Gelegenheit bietet, die Strecke aus der Perspektive des Fahrers zu beobachten, wenn auch in umgekehrter Richtung! Leider werden diese Fenster schmutzig!! Sie sind nicht mit Scheibenwischern ausgestattet und es ist verpönt, sie vor der Abreise zu reinigen !! Das Fenster auf der Rückseite des SotO bietet uns jedoch einen einzigartigen Blick auf die Schmalspurbahn, die durch diese atemberaubende Landschaft führt - was Banjo Paterson als "die herrliche Sicht auf die ausgedehnten sonnenbeschienenen Ebenen" bezeichnete (aus dem Gedicht "Clancy of the Overflow". “ 1889).
