Heavy rains lashed parts of Mumbai in Maharashtra on Friday and Saturday, likely due to the onset of the southwest monsoon in the region. The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for the city on June 26-27, indicating heavy rainfall in isolated areas.
It rained in Mumbai on Saturday bringing respite from heat for citizens. Due to cyclone Biparjoy, monsoon is delayed.
Weather department is yet to announce monsoon arrival. Meanwhile, rains are also a relief from water cuts as only 7% stock was left in dams which provide water to the city. Light to moderate rains expected today.
