Introducing the Boom-1: A project I've been working on lately. It's a prototype of a 3-voice, layered bass synth using the CEM3340 oscillators, AS3320 filter, and the V2164 Quad VCA with the help of a few AS3310 envelope generators. Using a crazy amount of breadboard real-estate, I've now got this synth working with the following features:
- Two independent note voices that can be detuned (CEM3340)
- A sub-oscillator using a 4013 clock divider
- Mix between Saw and Square waveforms
- Pulse width modulation
- Each of the voices has its own filter and VCA
- Separate filter cutoff and resonance controls for note vs sub voices
- 1 x ADSR envelope generator for overall amplifier control
- 3 x ADSR envelopes for filter cut off and resonance modulation
- FV-1 DSP Effects processor with feedback gain control
This video is an audio demo and walk through of the features above.
The schematic for the CEM3340-based voice board that includes the V/Oct oscillator, VCF and VCA can be found here:

Next up, I'm adding a noise generator (using Electric Druid's Noise2) as the final piece of this prototype, then its on to PCB design and fabrication. I'm streaming the daily progress and work on this direct to Twitch. You can tune in and see it being built here:

Feedback, questions, comments most welcome.. would love to hear what you think of the sound.
