Do you have a fear of flying? I used to be terrified - even when I was flying over 120 times a year! But then I discovered this trick...
BEFORE you leave, ask yourself “what’s one thing you’re excited to do on your trip?”
THEN envision yourself doing it. See it in detail (imagine eating the food, seeing the skyline, hugging a loved one...) AND say these words: "I’m so excited to..." (it’s important to say these words out loud!)
Here’s why it works: There’s no difference between the bodily sensations of feeling nervous or feeling excited - the difference is all in your head (I know, SCIENCE, right?). YOU CAN CHANGE nervous energy into excitement! Harvard researchers call it “reframing performance anxiety”.
I gotta tell you, you might have to use this trick 72 times before you actually land but that’s okay! Let me know if you try it and how it works for you!
