The #EuropeanParliament discussed its first #Taiwan report - this has historic significance. We assure our strategic solidarity to Taiwan's democracy. We want to support stability and peace and self-determination in this region, against Beijing's assertive behaviour. That is why we are against unilateral changes of the status quo in the Taiwan strait.
Commission Vice President Vestager also spoke a clear language in the Taiwan debate. It would be good if her positions were common knowledge in the European capitals, including Berlin. Such unity on a China policy issue as was expressed in the Taiwan debate has not often been seen in the European Parliament. Now it is up to the member states.
