(25 Jan 2015) Clashes continued between anti-government protesters and the police on Sunday in Matariyah, an eastern Cairo district.
At least nine protesters and one police conscript were killed in the clashes there, officials said.
The protesters could be seen running away from police who fired tear gas canisters at them in an attempt to disperse them from the streets.
Some protesters threw firecrackers back, as armoured vehicles advanced towards the crowd.
Clashes erupted around Cairo as protesters marked the fourth anniversary of the 2011 uprising that toppled autocrat Hosni Mubarak, and came a day after a female protester was shot dead while participating in a peaceful protest.
