A doubles cashier was shot and wounded after a gunman opened fire at her in Curepe on Wednesday 16th November, 2022.
• The victim was identified as 21-year-old Aliyah Maraj, of Valsayn.
• Around 6:00pm, Maraj was on duty as a cashier with Bara Box TT Doubles, near the sauce doubles location, when a man approached.
• The suspect pulled out a firearm and fired several shots in the direction of Maraj, before fleeing the scene.
• She sustained gunshot injuries to her back and her neck was grazed by the bullets.
• Maraj was taken to the Mt. Hope Hospital by police where she was treated and remained warded in stable condition for a bullet wound to the upper right back and right neck.
• Seven spent shell casings, 1 live round of 9mm ammunition and two deformed projectiles were recovered at the scene.
