Countertenor Roman Melish articulates the program of the concert:
In the last six months, our eyes are often filled with tears. Pain, fear, and despair are what we experience every day. Musicians, like every Ukrainian man and woman, are going through this war and looking for an opportunity to reflect on it. But opposite to war, there is love, the most powerful shield against evil. Therefore, in the program of the concert "Lumi, potete piangere" ("Eyes full of tears"), the works to be performed celebrate love in all its representations: to God, to a loved one, to music and, ultimately, to life.
We will feel how European composers of the Renaissance and Baroque eras loved. It will be a chamber concert of harpsichord and vocal music accompanied by basso continuo. Sophisticated English songs, passionate Italian madrigals, wistful German arias, colourful vocal duos and virtuosic harpsichord music will help us recover together, at least for a while, which is exactly what we need in the difficult times of war.
