Cabbage - cab + baggage - is a term that is often used to describe Amtrak's fleet of locomotives that have been de-motored and turned into cab control cars with a baggage compartment. They are officially known as NPCU, Non Powered Control Units, by the railroad. Amtrak uses these unique cars on many different intercity trains that have short turn around times. In this video, we will take a look at many different cabbages running on several different routes in the Amtrak system. All aboard!
