In this video, ProClinix Chiropractor Dr Stefanie Tropea, DC in #Armonk discusses what #cervicogenic #headaches are, symptoms associated with them along with one of the methods we use to treat them - Active Release Techniques (ART).
A #cervicogenicheadache is a common cause of a #chronic headache that is often misdiagnosed. The main symptoms of a cervicogenic headache are a combination of unilateral pain (one one side of the neck or head), limited neck range of motion, tightness in the neck and sometimes blurred vision or sensitivity to light.
Causes : Many things can cause a cervicogenic headache.A cervicogenic headache can come from a fall, #sportsinjury, #whiplash, or #arthritis - but oftentimes it will occur over time due to poor #posture throughout the day. For example, people in certain jobs can get cervicogenic headaches from the way they hold their heads when they work, especially if sitting for long periods of time.
TREATMENT: How we can help!
As Dr Stefanie Tropea, DC is demonstrating in the video above - one way we treat #neckpain and cervicogenic headaches is through a method called Active Release Techniques or ART. ART is a soft tissue method that focuses on relieving tissue tension via the removal of fibrosis/adhesions which can develop in tissues as a result of overload due to repetitive use.
