TLDR; I LOVE this song but the vocal was washed out, so I have sung it intentionally with a (fake) accent to mimic the original style, no pitch correction used, lots of intentional heavy/wet reverb.

One of the story explanations: [ Ссылка ]
I came across this mystery yesterday and have been facinated by it, anyone who doesn't know... it's a very long story, but this song was found on a mix tape from around 1982-1984 after being played on a German radio station. But after a 40 year search, even the huge combined might of the internet cannot determine who the original artist is or what the song is called. It has since been labelled the most mysterious song on the internet, but other titles are suggested as "Like The Wind" or "check it in check it out". It's a song about depression or sorrow, but little else is known.
As haunting and unique as the vocal is being also true to the style of the early 80s, it's unintelligable in places, so I decided to try and remaster or recreate it. Usually with a cover song you try to make it your own, but I've intentionally attempted to mimic the original vocal as much as possible keeping in mind the high possibility that the unknown original vocalist was Eastern European or possibly Russian, maybe Greek, either way there was a strong accent at times so I've attempted to recreate this. The strong accent combined with a degrading recording and the vocal being drowned in reverb (which was very much the style back in the early 80s), makes it all quite difficult to understand the words... there is much discourse online speculating what the words could be with many people having very different opinions. So I've done my best with what I think the original lyrics might have been, whilst still maintaining that dark drowned-in-reverb style which is very much the style of the track.
I've also neglected to apply any pitch correction to this at all to try and keep it true to the 80s style, so if it's a bit off in areas, that's why! I've done some basic EQ and applied various other effects i.e. Abbey Road J37, Vinyl reproduction and master bus compression but no pitch correction is on the track.
Lyrics are burned in.
