Scapular stabilization should be part of the initiation of all exercises, and establish before a movement of an exercise begins.
Stabilizing the scapulae on the rib cage is extremely important as they serve as an anchor for the arms as well as support for the cervical spine.
Our shoulder blades are hypermobile because they lack direct bony attachment to the rib cage and spine. The only bony attachment is the AC joint.
There are six movements the shoulder blades can do: protraction, retraction, elevation, depression, upward, and downward rotation.
