We're visiting Iceland during a 7-day cruise with Viking Ocean Cruises on their cruise ship, Viking Sky. One of the things that I've found most interesting about Iceland is the huge number of waterfalls. They seem to be everywhere! So, for the first of several videos from Iceland, I'd like to just give you a look at one particularly spectacular waterfall we visited: Dynjandi, which is actually not just one waterfall, but a series of waterfalls located in Arnarfjörður in the Westfjords region of Iceland.
The big waterfall at the top drops 330 feet, but I actually found the smaller waterfalls below it to be more beautiful. I enjoyed hiking up the trail to view each of the waterfalls along the way, and this video basically shows them all in order from the bottom of the trail all the way up to the top.
So that I wouldn't have to lug around a bunch of heavy camera gear with me on the hike, I shot this video with my Google Pixel 4 smartphone, which actually has a very high quality camera built in to it. The key to the quality of the video is that I mounted the phone on to a DJI OM4 Gimbal stabilizer. This eliminates any shakiness to the video, resulting in a nice smoot professional looking end result... as if you were using a camera mounted on a tripod.
We were guests of Viking Ocean Cruises on this voyage around Iceland. They invited us to cruise at their expense to help publicize the fact that they've resumed cruising again following a pause in operations of over a year during the pandemic.
This July sailing was one of the earliest voyages available for vaccinated American guests this summer. The itinerary is known as "Iceland's Natural Beauty". It's an 8-day circumnavigation of Iceland, exploring the natural beauty and coastal towns of this land of fire and ice... just one of Viking's "Welcome Back" collection of cruises as they work to resume global operations.
