From the album:
"Sung in Swedish. ‘Hälsa Dem Därhemma,’ existing in Swedish, Norwegian, Danish and English, rivals ‘Nikolina’ as the favorite song of Scandinavian-Americans. Ostensibly about a lonely sailor who sends a greeting home with a passing swallow--in one version it is a passing ship--this song has come to sum up, in lyrics and musical feeling, the emigrant’s longing for the Old Country: “Greet all those at home: Greet father and mother, / Greet the green meadow, greet little brother!… / Swallow, think of me also, / I would like to fly with you! / The meadow must be green at home, / Oh, swallow, hear my plea!”--Craig, fiddles; Stephen, guitar and bass; Maury, accordion; Anne-Charlotte sings a second voice on the chorus."
