The Jews are a fascinating people, both to themselves and to everyone else; their early history and religion still influence society today. But what if the major contributions of the Jewish people to the world were not the Bible and monotheism? What if modern atheistic intellectuals, secularized ethnicity and a model for globalization are more important?
Adam Chalom is a life-long Humanist who studied under Sherwin T. Wine to become a Humanistic Rabbi. He is Dean for North America of the IISHJ, Rabbi of Kol Hadash Humanistic Congregation in suburban Chicago, Illinois, and on the Advisory Council of The Humanist Institute. He edited the recently released book "A Provocative People: A Secular History of the Jews".
