Where The Name Solomon's Portico comes from:
In Acts, chapter 3, Peter and John where walking to Solomon's temple for the hour of prayer. A man, who has been lame from birth, was being carried to the gate where he would beg for money everyday. The man asked if Peter and John had any money, and they replied 'no'. But they did have Jesus Christ and in the name of Jesus, they healed this man and helped him up. He began to walk and praise God. He went with them into the temple, still rejoicing, and people noticed him. They knew that he was lame from birth, but now he could walk. They where amazed! Peter noticed that a lot of people were gathering and began to preach the good news of Jesus Christ right there on Solomon's Portico, which translates to Solomon's Porch. They were actually arrested for doing so, but in Acts 4:4, the Bible tells us that about five thousand people chose to put there faith in Jesus that day for eternal salvation. This is why we chose the name, Solomon's Portico, for this devotional. Because, just like when Peter seized the opportunity to share the good news of Jesus Christ on the steps of Solomon's Portico, we to want share the same good news with you.
