How do I connect my audio recorder (H4n) to the top of my camera? This simple piece of gear allows me to do just that and more.

I get asked in comments all the time, what is that thing that connects the Zoom H4n to the top of your camera (Canon 60D)?
It's called many things but I call it a hotshoe ball mount adapter. It goes into any standard hotshoe mount found on almost every camera (typically used to hold a flash) and connects to any device with a 1/4-20 female screw adapter.
The ball mount portion allows me to place the H4n in any position I need for viewing the LCD screen from any position. You could also use this to mount lights, microphones, etc.
