Evi Holzknecht, MD, Medical University of Innsbruck, Innsbruck, Austria, discusses the main challenges in risk prediction, treatment response, and risk of developing augmentation in restless legs syndrome (RLS) and highlights the importance of multifactorial risk assessment in the diagnosis and treatment of RLS. Dr Holzknecht explains her views on the potential for precision medicine – it will allow an earlier diagnosis of RLS, meaning patients can start adequate treatment faster.
