This video explains Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia (MEN) with easy mnemonics. MEN can be divided into Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Type 1 (MEN-1), Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Type 2A ( MEN-2A), & Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Type 2B (MEN 2B). MEN-1 involves the anterior pituitary gland, pancreas, and parathyroid gland. MEN-2A involves parathyroid hyperplasia/adenoma, adrenal gland (pheochromocytoma), and thyroid gland (medullary carcinoma). MEN-2B involves the adrenal gland (pheochromocytoma), thyroid gland (medullary carcinoma), mucosal lesions (neuromas), and marfanoid habitus.
Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 (MEN1), which is a rare autosomal dominant endocrine tumor syndrome with high penetrance, is also known as Wermer syndrome.
Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2A (MEN 2A), also known as Sipple syndrome) is an autosomal dominant inherited endocrine cancer syndrome that manifests as medullary thyroid carcinoma, pheochromocytoma, and hyperparathyroidism.
Multiple endocrine neoplasia, type 2B (MEN 2B), is an autosomal dominant syndrome associated with medullary thyroid carcinoma, pheochromocytoma, multiple mucosal neuromas, intestinal ganglioneuromas, and often a marfanoid habitus and other skeletal abnormalities.
These MEN syndromes are frequently asked in various competitive exams like the USMLE, AMC, MRCP, etc.
