We spent a couple of days in Ottawa recently. In addition to checking out the House of Commons, we walked along the Rideau Canal. We were delighted to get to see a team of Parks Canada staff operating the locks for a couple of boats. The Rideau Canal enables boaters to get to Kingston which is located on Lake Ontario, about 212 km away. In the winter it freezes over and forms the largest ice rink in the world.
