I was inspired to paint this spring scenery while i was out sketching with my watercolor pencils and sketchbook. And in this watercolor tutorial I share my techniques for how to paint blossom flowers and trees in a few simple steps and share my thoughts on how to use these watercolor pencils.
You can paint this motif without watercolor pencils too. Just use a regular colored pencil for the outline drawing and paint in with regular watercolors. Begin with a light pink wash on the first layer and paint in shadows directly with the brush and regular watercolor.
Paper: Magnani Italia, Cold pressed, fine grain, 100% Cotton, 300 gsm
Watercolor sketchbook in which I painted the original painting: Hahnemühle watercolor book, 100% cotton, cold pressed, 259 gsm
Brush: syntethic round brush, I'm using a local brush but any artist quality round brush works
Watercolor pencils from Faber-Castell:
- Light purple pink
- Middle purple pink
- Magenta
Watercolors from pans: Cerulean blue from Daniel Smith, May green from Schmincke, Indigo from Winsor & Newton for the birds and branches in the background.
