yet another W for normal getting an extra life to start with over hard/unreal...
fortunately (at least for higher-difficulty scoring) it's not as much of an advantage as in RMI. Tasouken alone gives 10 million more in spellcard bonus on hard than on normal (and you get the bonus as long as you don't gameover, even if you get hit, unless you get hit during the boss explosion at the end. I'm not sure why) and bullet cancels/stage patterns probably allow hard mode to score more than normal mode if played well enough, even if normal mode manages to get the 100 million extend with no misses. (It's not as unreasonable as it looks; if you reach a score extend threshold with the first bonus from lives remaining, you get the life from that extend, and it's counted towards score. So you actually only need to reach 85 million, assuming you have a full petal gauge, to get another 15 million from the 100m extend.)
That being said, 318 million is definitely easier to achieve on normal mode than on hard mode. I can nmnb all the difficult survival parts much more consistently than I can on hard mode, and Tasouken is much, much easier imo.
Also, a huge thank-you to BAN_43_32532 for finding the Sukune non 2 strategy that I used here; it's incredibly useful.
