Build quad strength after ACL surgery with the open kinetic chain the extension from 90 to 45°. This is an excellent exercise to start early in the recovery once range of motion, swelling, and pain have improved. Studies have shown that starting this around the four week mark from surgery resulted in better quadriceps limb symmetry index testing at 19 weeks compared to those who didn’t.
