Today in this video we're going to see how to save hours of time optimizing images with the “image processor” script in photoshop.

I have several clients that send me dozens of photos at a time to upload to their websites. Often these photos are taken with an iPhone or other smartphone and are delivered to me in large file sizes that are over 2 megabytes apiece. For these clients, I don’t need to do anything to the images except reduce the file size so they don't take up unnecessary space on our servers and risk slowing down the page load time.

If you've ever found yourself in a similar position of needing to reduce the file size of images, Photoshop is a great tool to optimize images for web. You can maintain a great quality to the eye, But reduce the file size easily to less than 5% of the original size.

Using the export feature when you bring a file into photoshop gives you lots of options to reduce an image, but doing this on dozens of images is tedious and takes up time.

Today we’re going to learn how to use the “image processor” to reduce file size of the images for us.

Let’s get started.

1. Open Photoshop
2. Select File / Scripts / Image Processor
3. In section "1", select the folder containing the images you need to reduce
4. In section "2", select the folder you want the new reduced images to be placed in.
5. In section "3", select the file type, quality and dimensions that will reduce the file size. Lower the quality, and the smaller the dimensions, the smaller the filesize you will end of with for your new images.
6. Click "Run".
7. Watch as Photoshop reduces all the images in your selected folder.
8. Go to the folder you select to place the new images in, and find the reduced images there. Congrats! You did it!
