Poor Little Hummingbird with Suzanne Barrett Justis

Sometimes on our walks, Singer and I find little treasures. Today, we found a poor little hummingbird that had died. She could have died in any number of ways, but her tongue was sticking out...which indicates a potential fungal problem, usually caused by dirty hummingbird feeders or folks who make their hummingbird food with honey that has spores that can cause problems in hummingbirds. Please folks, if you have a hummingbird feeder, please make sure it is cleaned often and that you purchase proper hummingbird food for your feeder. Better yet, plant lots of flowers that hummingbirds love. That way, the bees and other insects as well as the hummingbirds will enjoy the flowers and you will have something pretty to enjoy. We must take care of our wildlife.
