The Twycross Zoo hosts a rare baby western lowland gorilla ... England, is welcoming a special new addition to their animal family – this cute baby gorilla! But this newborn is unlike any other baby born at the zoo. This baby is a rare treat not just for this English Zoo, but for the whole world.
That’s because it’s species is critically endangered – the western lowland gorilla – that is. In fact, it is feared by scientists that these gorillas could go extinct as soon as the next twenty years, thanks to poaching and deforestation.

That said, this baby is her parent’s third child and the hope for it’s dying species.

According to Metro, Dr. Charlotte MacDonald, who serves as a director of life sciences at Twycross, hoped the new baby will spread awareness of the western lowland gorillas, saying, “We are very excited about the arrival of this healthy newborn baby, which is a boost for the future of this threatened species. We hope lots of visitors will come to see the baby and its family and learn more about gorillas.”
